Cinnamon Chips Cookies

I bought the cinnamon chips on impulse a while back at Hershey's World in Citylink and it was due to expiry soon! So, hey I gotta make use of it else I would waste my 8 bucks. I used my chocolate chips cookie recipe and used cinnamon chips instead of chocolate chips. Added a dash of cinnamon powder and tadaa! Cinnamon chips cookies. :)

They taste pretty good, just that I find the chips too sweet. And the best cookies are actually a little burnt. Chaota. Bagus! Then I packed them up and gave to my department which I will bid farewell to today as I rotate to another department. Pretty sad, I hope I'll be fine and happy there. Will miss my seat terribly, good fengshui and people.

Heyhey! How's this bros?

Banana Chocolate Cake

Finally, I sold a cake! It's been so long since I did any cake sales, but I only have my terrible schedule to blame. In any case, this was such an accidental cake sale. Prior to making the coffee mousse cake (see previous), my actual intention was a banana chocolate cake. But only when it was done did I realise that my couverture chocolate was "super dark" instead of the usual "dark". So it tasted really bitter to me! Plus, the birthday boy was allergic to chocolate

So hey, I needed plan B right. And plan A was pretty upsetting. Luckily my mum brought it to office and they loved it! So someone ordered my cake after the initial sample woohoo.

Wish I could see the cross section but it's okay... I can imagine it. You guys can't though. :(

Coffee Mousse Cake

My first cake that I baked to bring to work! It was awesome, and the best part was that I completed this in 2 hours. With limited ingredients!

The birthday boy was allergic to chocolate, so my initial chocolate cake could not work. My fridge was pretty bare, and luckily I had coffee to flavour my mousse. I couldn't think of any decoration, so I took a spoon and drizzle melted chocolate and it looked pretty good. The best part was, I did the mousse through tasting rather than following the recipe's measurements and hence, I think I can say that my experience level has increased!

Happy Birthday Jamie&Joshua! It's an awesome bunch of people here at Spring, and I hope I get to bake more for them. So much fun, but so little time!

The Joy of Cooking

I wonder how many people have seen the movie Julie&Julia. If you haven't here's a short summary:

The film contrasts the life of chef Julia Child in the early years of her culinary career with the life of young New Yorker Julie Powell, who aspires to cook all 524 recipes in Child's cookbook in 365 days, a challenge she described on her popular blog that would make her a published author.

Guess what I found today - The Joy of Cooking, Julia Child's cookbook that revolutionized American cooking:

Unfortunately, this is a revised version with new recipes and slights alterations. But nonetheless, it's still so awe-inducing and I bought it for only 20 bucks! Of course, embarking of Julie's mission of cooking all recipe is insane and hell lot of money, something that I can't even consider. But I do feel inspired and someday, I'll do every recipe in a cookbook. That would be an awesome feat and challenge.

To my horrific realisation, my blog is dead. Yes, I have stopped updating for a while because I simply could not handle my life much less to bake. In all honesty, my life has never been this busy or this uncertain. Months and days are whisking past, I reach out to grasp them but only gather thin air. I'm tired everyday, and weekends are never long enough. Exercising is a rarity now, and I am starting to feel the stress from my lack of exercise.

In fact, I feel hell lot of stress from everything, it's hard to differentiate. Whatever the case, I want to bake again, I want to live my life again. This imbalance is taking its toll on me.

I shall move to wordpress soon. When I find the time and energy to do something. PLEASE STOP THE CLOCK.

Banana Walnut Cake

It's Mum's birthday today so I thought I'll make breakfast! And this is sort of a birthday cake for her because she doesn't like all creamy and rich cakes. Banana walnut is healthy and yummy.

She loved it, so that's worth my 7-9am morning "exercise".

The cake turned out quite well, I added loads of walnuts so it looks pretty messy. And I think my oven was a tad too hot so it creacked a little at the top but since it was going to be gobbled up, I didn't care much about presentation. In any case, it's so awesome to make breakfast for the family and eat piping hot cakes.
Hands-on, from scratch, 7am baking is just bliss. (Despite the fact that I need to return to bed at 11am due to lack of sleep.)
